Application Engineer

To build this clean future, H2U Technologies is seeking a hardworking, passionate and experienced applications engineer as a key member of the team.  The role is in support of customer oriented business development efforts, as well as in support of development and testing of electrolyzers systems with the R&D group.



  • Experience with energy systems including hydrogen electrolyzers and fuel cells is desired.  Ability to learn about the fundamental principles of operations of these systems is required.

  • Strong background in electronic systems integration, including custom designs and off-the-shelf components and systems.

  • Experience in testing systems over time for performance monitoring, anomaly detection, and stability.

  • Experience with customer (commercial, industrial, government) facing interaction and with support for business development and pre-sales efforts.

  • Support for public and private sector proposal response to procurement solicitations.

  • This position will have cross-reporting to the heads of R&D, Operations, and Business Development.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites for sales support, site assessment, system installation, and maintenance.

  • Self-starter, troubleshooter, with ability to procure and manage resources for end-to-end system integration and site installation.

  • 5+ years of working experience.

  • BS degree in mechanical/electrical/chemical engineering or chemistry/ physics/material sciences.

Current technology for creating hydrogen depends on rare, expensive precious metals as the catalysts for producing clean hydrogen and converting it to clean power. To deal with the limitations of those technologies, H2U electrocatalyst discovery is an unprecedented, proprietary, end-to-end ultrahigh throughput AI and data-driven process focused on discovery of new catalysts for generation of clean hydrogen and fuel cell power production.  The process prepares, characterizes, and quantifies the catalytic activity of millions of compositions per month and then closes the loop with big data analysis and AI to refine/guide the search.


Similarly, current electrolyzer technology is complex and expensive. H2U’s response is the Gramme 50 GS series PEM Electrolyzer, a novel and disruptive design, made to drive rapid and large-scale adoption of grid scale electrolysis.
